PlateFlip ("we," "us") helps you discover recipes and plan meals. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect as little as possible.
Information we collect
- Account details. When you create an account we store your email address and an authentication identifier through our sign-in provider, Clerk. We never see or store your password.
- Your app content. Saved recipes, meal plans, dietary and cuisine preferences, household size, cooking skill, and recipe ratings you create. This is synced so it follows you across devices.
- Recipe searches. Search terms and filters you enter are sent to our recipe data provider (Edamam) to return results. These are not tied to your identity.
- Advertising data. The free version of PlateFlip shows ads served by Google AdMob. To do this, AdMob may access your device's advertising identifier and limited device information to select and measure ads. PlateFlip Plus subscribers see no ads.
- Subscription status. If you subscribe to PlateFlip Plus, our billing provider (RevenueCat) records your purchase and subscription status. Payment itself is handled by Apple or Google — we never see your card details.
We do not collect your location or contacts, and we do not sell your personal information. On iOS you'll be asked whether to allow tracking; if you decline, you'll still see ads, just less relevant ones.
How we use it
- To sign you in and sync your recipes and plans across your devices.
- To personalize recipe suggestions based on the preferences you set.
- To show aggregate, non-identifying recipe ratings from the community.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make the app work:
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- Render / Neon — hosting our API and database, where your synced content is stored.
- Edamam — recipe search and data.
- Google AdMob — serves ads in the free version.
- RevenueCat — manages PlateFlip Plus subscription status.
Deleting your account and data
You can permanently delete your account at any time from the app: open the Profile tab and tap Delete account. This immediately removes your account and all of your saved recipes, meal plans, preferences, and ratings from our systems. This action cannot be undone.
Data retention
We keep your content for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our database and your authentication record is deleted.
Children
PlateFlip is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
